Emma and George's July Wedding at Happy Valley Norfolk

Emma & George: A Wedding Weekend Full of Love, Laughter & a Little Healthy Competition

Some weddings feel less like a single day and more like a wonderful gathering of all the people you love most. Emma and George’s celebration at Happy Valley was exactly that.

After spending months travelling before their wedding, Emma & George came together with their favourite people for a weekend that felt wonderfully relaxed and completely them. From an evening meal beside the pond the night before, to a full-blown sports day on the wedding day itself, their celebration was all about bringing everyone together and making memories.

A weekend of togetherness

The celebrations began the night before the wedding, with everyone gathering beside the pond for a beautiful evening meal. After months of travelling, it was a lovely way for Emma and George to reconnect with family and friends before the excitement of the big day began.

There was a real sense of togetherness throughout the whole weekend - the kind that comes when a wedding isn't just about two people, but about bringing together all the people who have played a part in their lives.

And then came the Sports Day…!

Complete with plenty of enthusiastic chants, it was a wonderfully fun addition to the wedding celebrations and a brilliant way to get everyone involved. It brought out the competitive spirit, the laughter and a only a few questionable sporting techniques…!

A woodland ceremony at the Wizard Tree

For their ceremony, Emma and George chose one of Happy Valley's most magical spots: the Wizard Tree.

Surrounded by woodland, it was the perfect setting for a ceremony that felt intimate and connected to nature. Natalie Boon from The Wild Folk Florist created beautiful floral arrangements for the aisle, adding to the natural beauty of the setting without taking away from it.

And one of our favourite things about the flowers? They didn't just stay at the ceremony.

A little wedding décor tip from us…

If you're investing in beautiful florals for your wedding, think about how they can work harder throughout the day.

Emma and George's aisle flowers were designed so that they could be moved and repurposed for the wedding breakfast. It's a simple idea, but one that can make a real difference to your overall wedding styling. It allows you to get more use (and more value) from your flowers while creating a cohesive look throughout the day.

Movable florals are definitely a Happy Valley wedding tip worth stealing!

Pretty details & thoughtful styling

The wedding breakfast was beautifully styled, with gorgeous botanical tablecloths and considered details creating a warm and inviting space for everyone to sit down together.

Norfolk County Catering took care of the canapés and the main meal, whilst Emma and George’s friends and family created the most incredible dessert spread in the Cattleyard Courtyard. Summer evenings at Happy Valley were made for this sort of social dessert experience!

There is something particularly special about a wedding breakfast in the Dutch Barn. After a day spent wandering through the woodland, celebrating, laughing and perhaps taking part in a slightly over-competitive sports day, sitting down together for good food feels like the perfect way to slow things down for a moment.

Before, of course, the dancing began.

Confetti by the Willow Island bridge

One of the standout moments of the day was the confetti shot at the bridge on Willow Island.

With the woodland and water surrounding them, it is one of those Happy Valley settings that needs very little added to it. Just Emma, George, their guests and baskets of dried flower petals.

It captured the feeling of their day perfectly.

And then the party really got going…

As evening arrived, the celebrations continued with everyone on the dance floor.

There was plenty of energy, plenty of dancing and the unmistakable feeling of a group of people who were completely invested in celebrating Emma and George.

Their wedding was full of friendship, laughter and those little personal touches that make a celebration feel truly yours. From gathering everyone together after months of travelling, to introducing a Sports Day into the wedding weekend, they created a celebration that wasn't about following a formula - it was about spending time with their favourite people and having an incredibly good time doing it.

And perhaps that's exactly what makes a Happy Valley wedding so special.

There are no rules about what your wedding has to look like here. You can get married beneath a woodland tree, throw a Sports Day for your guests, have dinner beside the pond, dance until your feet hurt and fill the day with the people who matter most.

Emma & George, thank you for letting us be part of such a wonderfully joyful celebration. We hope the memories of your Happy Valley weekend stay with you for many, many years to come.
