Cycling Routes Near Happy Valley Norfolk

We are thrilled that you’re considering Happy Valley Norfolk for your cycling holiday and we’d love to inspire you with a few of our favourite cycle routes - all easily accessible from our doorstep. Cycling enthusiasts will know that this energetic and social sport is incredibly beneficial for both mental and physical health and is a great way to keep busy, stay fit and get out into the world.

Cycling is a fantastic workout for any age, using all major muscle groups and helping to build up strength and stamina while having fun! The best part? It doesn’t require high levels of physical skill because most of us learned how to ride a bike as a kid. How does the saying go? “It’s like a riding a bike!” As in, once learned, you can never forget.

Komoot is a fantastic website for finding routes, seeing other cyclist’s tips and recording your own route too.

Here are three of our favourite cycle routes - all within easy reach of Happy Valley Norfolk.

Easy Cycle Route - Great Massingham loop from Grimston

Perfect for all fitness and skill levels, this easy loop enjoys flat terrain and an abundance of beauty. With mostly paved surfaces, this route is 12.8 miles in total and the starting point is a short 7 minute drive from Happy Valley Norfolk! Park up and enjoy a hearty lunch at The Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham after completing the route, before returning to your home away from home with us!

Intermediate Cycle Route - King’s Avenue, Castle Rising 

With good fitness required, this route enjoys mostly paved surfaces and is suitable for all skill levels. Passing incredible scenery and totalling 24.2 miles in total, this route offers everything from pretty tree-lined avenues to a lunch-break at picturesque Caste Rising, “one of the largest, best preserved and most lavishly decorated keeps in England.”

Expert Cycle Route - Sandringham House and Gardens - Great Walsingham ford Loop from East Rudham

Totalling a whopping 51.3 miles, this 5-hour route requires good fitness levels. With beauty around every corner including Holkham Park, Great Walsingham Ford, Little Walsingham village and more, you’ll be in need of a well-deserved rest when you return to your home-away-from-home at Happy Valley. Luckily we’ve got you covered! Enjoy a chilled evening in front of the fire-pit, cook up a hearty meal in a fully-equipped kitchen or nurse those tired muscles in a hot-tub with sensational views to finish off a perfect day.

If you’re feeling particularly energetic (perhaps after a great night’s sleep in one of our cabins under the stars) you could attempt the Norfolk Coastal Cycleway, which covers 59 miles from King’s Lynn to Great Yarmouth via Cromer. Take in the immense beauty of the Norfolk Coast, passing through a National Landscape with dramatic views, beautiful countryside and outstanding wildlife. The gentle gradients of the area make this challenge manageable for all ages and abilities. Be prepared for views around every corner because the Norfolk Coast really does boast some of the most impressive scenery in the UK.
